Graham Filby on the PDC World Cup stage

Born in Beaufort West in 1970 and now based in Bellville, Cape Town, Graham Filby’s love for darts started as a kid, throwing with his uncle who played for South Western District. What began as family fun became a lifelong pursuit of excellence.

Graham took up competitive darts in 2000, playing for Fairways Darts Club under Darts South Africa. By 2007 he was competing at his first Nationals tournament, and in 2011 he joined the South African Professional Darts Organization (SAPDO).

That same year, Graham played his first international tournament in Lesotho — and promptly became the Maseru Sun Champion on his very first attempt.

🌍 On the World Stage

2012 — Gold Coast, Australia: Faced 16-time World Champion Phil Taylor. Lost 4-1 against the greatest player in darts history.
2014 — World Cup of Darts, Hamburg: Partnered Devon Petersen. Beat host nation Germany 5-3 in the opening match, then defeated Singapore. Reached the last 8 where they fell to the World Champions. Graham lost to two-time World Champion Adrian Lewis 4-2.
2015 — World Cup of Darts, Frankfurt: Again partnered Devon Petersen. Beat Finland in Round 1 before being knocked out in Round 2 by the Netherlands — Raymond van Barneveld and Michael van Gerwen.
2015 — PDC Q-School: Made it to the last 32 on Day 1, competing against top professionals from around the world.
2016 — World Cup of Darts, Frankfurt: Third consecutive World Cup appearance with Devon Petersen. Lost in the first round to Singapore.
2025: Ranked No. 1 in Africa. Devon Petersen won the World Cup qualifier.
2026: After a decade-long absence, Graham and Devon Petersen will once again represent South Africa at the World Cup of Darts in Frankfurt. The band is back together. 🇿🇦
